Some of our most dramatic and challenging restoration projects. In these featured projects we break down the structural issues the property was facing (such as trapped moisture or spalling caused by modern cement). The exact scientific mortar matching and sand-blending processes we deployed and the specialist services we’ve used including delicate DOFF® steam cleaning and authentic NHL 3.5 lime mortar repointing.
We have completed a full masonry restoration project on a conversion at Shaftesbury House, Park Road, Cheadle Hulme.
The fantastic looking Victorian Villa has undergone conversion from 5 self contained units back into a single dwelling, and we have completed a complete repointing process using NHL 3.5 lime mortar and a gentle, but highly effective clean using our DOFF steam cleaning system.
We completed a rake out of old sand & cement mortar that was preventing this building from properly breathing. We then repointed with proper lime mortar (NHL 3.5) at this gorgeous double fronted Victorian detatched house in Preston.
The property sits within a conservation area and the owner noticed that mortar was starting to fall out allowing excess water to get in causing early signs of damp. The brickwork in general had also become quite grubby and dark.
Once the rake out stage was competed we also carefully cleaned the brickwork using our DOFF III superheated steam cleaning machine, which really brought the brick colour back to life.
The project was undertaken on a Grade II listed building in Macclesfield, and involved the removal of sand and cement mortar that was causing damp related issues.
After raking out to a minimum depth of 20mm we conducted a clean of the brickwork with our English Heritage approved DOFF system – this involved working on a test patch that later passed approval. Once the brickwork had been cleaned, we fully repointed the property with NHL 3.5 lime mortar.
